Duncan MacRae (founder)

After graduating in Geography and a brief stint at the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, Duncan has worked in coastal management in Madagascar, Southern Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Middle East. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas. After a typhoon in Borneo, he continually found himself on a search for effective, versatile kit that could last the distance.


Matthew Porter (commerce)

Matthew has over 20 years’ experience in a range of commercial, mentoring and coaching roles, most recently with Oxford Innovation and Virgin Start Up, and has owned and run a number of businesses from start-up to £5m turnover. Matthew is ICF ACC Credentialled and is a fellow of the Institute of Sales Management and the Chartered Management Institute.  Matthew is really passionate about bringing his years of commercial experience to Innovative Start Ups and SMEs.


Sarah Byham (communications)

Sarah has a Masters Degree in the Management of Tropical Coasts.. Need we say more? she has lived all over the planet and worked in outdoor education in India, Japan, Thailand to name a few. She is an excellent communicator and people person and has a keen interest in practical kit that enables people to get out doors.


Developing a product and selling a few has been a great journey. Luckily we’ve had great support from a team of expert advisors…

Jonathan Young

One of the best and most respected TV Documentary makers and obsessive outdoor kit enthusiast. Jonathan has worked and travelled all over the world filming cutting edge documentaries in Russia, Burma, Colombia and live TV shows in the Arctic.

Charles Ross

Respected and experienced specialist in “Performance Sportswear Design & sustainable matters”. Charles helped out as a mentor through the Design Council Spark Accelerator programme and has been a sources of wisdom ever since.

Fiona Butcher

Fiona has a good few years experience in making waterproof jackets where it rains, a lot. Cumbria is the setting for her apparel manufacturing business that she runs with her fabulous machine operators Rachel and Mary. Between them they are a force to be reckoned with in designing clothes to keep you dry from the performance of the fabric down to the tiniest of stitching details.


It’s taken a lot of graft to get this point. A massive thankyou  to the people who have helped out and been really supportive… what a very cool bunch of folk…
